Yeah, they are pretty cute, arn't they! The amount of interaction they get really depends on how old they are, who their carer's are etc. Overall, the children really do crave affection and love, but that's not surprising. No matter how well the carers look after the kids, nothing can replace having parents who love you and are dedicated to you for life. However, there is hope.........i met people who'd grown up at khayelehle, and they were surprisingly well-adjusted and happy people. They tols us kayelehle was their home and they loved it.
Some particular children become particularly attatched to some carers, but there's not nearly enough carers to go around. Most kids grow close to other kids, and older kids often look after and play with littler ones. The children seem to be happy and healthy. Living in an orphanage is nowhere near a perfect situation, but it puts the kids in a stable situation where they'll be fed, looked after, and, hopefully, loved.
